Haha, we'll see.
The Maestro here wants to relate something to the boys,
but it sort of "Off-Topic".
So going to post it up over on the Trades Page

Re: Let's Go Play at the Adams

There was another signed copy sold on Ebay a few years ago and that seller added a bit of back history. From what I remember it goes something like this.

Johnson was a journalist working for a small new England newspaper doing a number of jobs including covering crime stories. The events in the book are an amalgam of two real life cases, one of which was nationally notorious about a foster family that kept one of the older kids tied in the basement of their home and eventually tortured her to death. Sortly after "Adams" and before his second book was finished Johnson died, which means that the signed editions are somewhat rare.

I never had a problem finding copies in the UK. In fact I went through 3 of them having burnt by first copy in disgust after reading the ending.

Back about 6 or so years ago in a thread discusing my story "Captured Caroline" someone recommended something called the "Nola" stories by a writer called "Curt Strap." "Curt" supposedly wrote 127 stories about a girl called Nola even though her age, height and ethnicity changed between tales.
When I got to "Nola10" I discovered why, seems "Curt" typed in the "juicy" bit's of "Adams" except the name of the girl has been changed to "Nola."

Read it here

Same here. The pict is displayed corectly on the page but when trying to save it, the system writes a little gif image on disk instead of the source. Solution: make a screen capture on the fly (see what keys to press in your OS ref book) then scrap the area of the picture, then open new file in Photoshop (or any other editor), paste and save the file. Have a nice day.

"Rollergirls" scene?
If you follow the A&E reality series "Rollergirls," a promo showed a blink-and-you-miss-it shot of a woman's hands being tied behind her. It looks like a "birthday kidnapping" that you see on BIEL and other places.

I froze the frame and it looks like rope or sheet material.

The downside is, it could be from any of the remaining 10 episodes in the 13-part series. I have watched the first three and it wasn't there, so 10 to go.

Rollergirls shows at 9 p.m. Central Time on Mondays.

This is incredible
First of all, thanks to Lazos for the megaupdate! Lazos - you ROCK!!!

Guys, you have to check this scene out on his web site. It's the one called: karyme_lozano_tres_mujeres.wmv

The girl is cleave gagged and her hands are tied in front. She takes her phone from her pockets, dials some number and starts talking through the cleave gag!

But for God's sake, why on Earth can't she remove her own gag? Please tell me there aren't any other directors who are THIS stupid!

What do you guys think?

Heartbeat
Record number: 11808

Title: Heartbeat
Medium: TV Series
Actress: Sophie Ward

Description: Episode: Hostage to fortune

Ward is dressed in a grey jacket and grey wool knee dress, nude tights

NB all timings based on original UK transmission times with commercials

Kidnapped from home at gunpoint

Action kicks of at the 13m mark with Ward sat in the front passenger seat of a car, her hands tied together in front with thin cord and secured to handgrip over the door. A thin wool belt is tied around eyes as a blindfold .A brief scene it lasts about 15 seconds

In the next scene they arrive at the hideout and we see the kidnapper bring her into the room, her hands are now untied but the blindfolded is left on until they are inside the room.

At the 21m mark the blindfold is retied around her eyes and 3m later Ward is dropped on the outskirts of the villafge, her blindfold removed.

The man allows her to return to her surgery for supplies meeting up with her again and taking her back out to the hideout, without a blindfold this time

At the 40m mark the police find the hideout but it has already been deserted. Muffled cries lead them to a small pantry/larder type room where Ward is kneeling hands tied behind her back and the same brown belt this time tied between her teeth as a gag. A very fleeting 3-4 second scene.

Finally at the 51m mark there is a fleeting shot of three domestics in a country house tied side by side to wooden chairs, arms behind. Middle one is a maid of indeterminate age, OTM gagged with black cloth.

Also for the person who asked - no Tricia Penrose has never had a Heartbeat scene nor to the best of my knowledge in any other role.
As to what happened to the previous Doctor i honestly can't recall, there's a fairly steady turnover of cast on this show. I can vaguely remember someone having a mental breakdown about a year ago but that might have been a nurse.

That Howling scene is a classic. Might be a challenge to think of a mainstream movie with a better on screen gagging. "Spine" maybe? Speaking of which, if a line of discussion above was a mainstream movie scene where the girl begs to not be gagged, then one would find a good one in a bedroom scene in "Spine". Thinking maybe of a bed scene in the movie "Maniac" too. I've never seen that one captured on a site. Would be worth the effort. Great scene.

Lindsay Lohan-Just My Luck
Well it's nothing much, but there may be a little scene in the movie Just My Luck involving Lindsay Lohan.

Judging by the trailer, Lohan is arrested in one scene with her hands handcuffed behind her back. The movie itself doesn't look that great.

Damsels-in-Distress who are in any way restrained (however feeble the attempt) are automatically helpless. This is an established cultural/media cliché. There are a ton of them, like:

A gunfighter can shoot a pistol from the hand of a villain without doing any real damage (nothing that can't be fixed by wrapping a bandana around the hand, anyway). This was big in the middle of the last century & has faded to a cultural echo.

If a car involved in a chase &/or escape attempt side-swipes a parked car, it will magically fly into the air, spin like a corkscrew, and when it finally lands...
Case 1 (the driver is a good guy): drive away without leaving the transmission in the road &/or cracking both axles & the driveshaft.
Case 2 (the driver is a bad guy): the car explodes like ten 50 gallon drums of napalm with a thermite detonator.

It's simple creative laziness. If we didn't vote with our ticket buying &/or viewing habits, they wouldn't pull this crap.

It's stupid, it's unrealistic, and it's lazy... yet it's oddly very hot. It's like the girl is on some level cooperating with her own captivity and humiliation.

I guess I can this scene to the long, long list of "Stuff I find hot, for no rational reason whatsoever".
