IMHO, definitely. I added a DB entry a while back; feel free to look there for detailed information. My edited clips ended up just over seven minutes long, which is pretty good for a mainstream flick.

Checking my clip library to refresh my memory, here's my quick stab at a list of 30 of the most memorable DVD (movie) scenes from the new millenium:

Malevolence
The Wild Card
Wrong Turn
Screaming Dead
The Missing
Love Object
House of 1000 Corpses
Descendant
The Big Empty
Spun
The Transporter
The Source
The Real Deal
Lone Star State of Mind
Junior (aka Engine Trouble)
American Psycho 2: All American Girl
Vanilla Sky
Picture Claire
Fast Sofa
Facing the Enemy
Devil's Prey
Cold Heart
Birthday Girl
The Watcher
The Perfect Tenant
Cherry Falls
Cecil B. Demented
Joy Ride
Instinct to Kill
Voodoo Tailz

Speaking of scenes on DVD, here's an idea for you software-developer types out there: how about a script that cross-references Brian's database with Netflix's listings and builds a page of links? This probably wouldn't be that hard to do: you'd just submit a query to the Netflix search engine for each "Movie" entry in the DB and scan the results for results that looked promising (i.e. same primary or alternate titles, with release dates matching within a year or two), and toss the results up on a web page. You'd undoubtedly end up with a few missed matches and a few false positives, and TV series would be a bit harder to handle intelligently, but I can't think of any showstopping problems with the idea. (And yes, I might look into doing this myself at some point, though my first priority right now is to work out the last few technical kinks in my new site and *finally* get the darn thing off the ground.)

BTW, Brian, is there any way to link directly into your database by URL (either via the numeric ID or, better yet, via text query)? This would make ideas such as the above even more attractive, though I suppose you might not want to deal with the additional server load.

Would be cool, but there are a lot of minor scenes. Jay and the other db caretakers have kept the "Movie (Year)" format, which keeps it in line with the imdb, so more on this below.

I would like to code something in vb or something that would take a list of files and output an html page with the list of files and links (if appropriate) to the records in the db.
If you have files with the record number in them (I do that, since it makes it easy to id the clip, as opposed to something like "Diabolik.wmv" or "melroseplaced.avi"), it should be quite simple to parse each line for a BPR-????? and create a link. Load shouldn't be an issue, getting that one record takes almost no bandwidth and I'm guessing requires almost no processing time (it would be less than a search).

It looks like netflix also has an unique ID in the URL for each movie they have,
Something like http://www.netflix.com/MovieDisplay?movieid=332331
so it would be simple (well, once you have the netflix movie ID number) to put a link to netflix.

We'd have to get that url first, which might be a pain in the ass, but netflix's site uses a form.post to search, so a program could be written to search their site and cross reference the stuff in the db.
If their search doesn't find something, or if the search term is ambigious the url returned is http://www.netflix.com/Search, so it would be easy to filter out those results.

It has been some time since I did any web scripting, but if someone reminds me how to post data to a script without a damn button (just automatically post when the page is loaded), that would make searching netflix for stuff in the db a whole lot easier.

There's a Robert Altman-directed movie version. It'll be screened at the "South by Southwest" film festival (Austin, TX) in March -- as well as "The Notorious Bettie Page".

Nice...thanks (and thanks as well, Brian). I didn't know about that, but it's pretty cool. Going through all of my clips to see if they're linkable to Brian's DB would obviously take some time, but it's great to know that it's a possibility.

Yep, and it's only getting that ID (as with Brian's DB) that's the tricky part.

If it would help anyone who wants to experiment with this, I've got IMDb links for most of the 1400+ clips on my site that I could easily forward. If only Netflix would link to the IMDb, we might be able to save a step or two...I wonder if they could be talked into that, given, hey, probably more rentals?

Yep. This would kick ass.

I could probably help with this in Perl, though I have no experience with VB.

Cool thanks for the link. Ms. Madsen finally delivers a gag scene for us and it looks like a good one. I like the use of the clear duct tape.

Is this movie in theaters yet and has anyone seen it? If so, how's the scene and is the movie worth watching?

I don't think the clear duct tape works too good here because you can see that her lips and teeth are spread apart, making the gag look ineffectual. Also, it doesn't look photogenically nice either (as closed lips would).

As far as release, I've been seeing promos, but don't recall any mentioning a release date. The IMDB has a February release date for the U.S.; various March & April dates for Europe, though several Asian countries will also see it in February.
And thanks for the link, Cohen.

I could have sworn Virginia Madsen was bound and gagged in a movie in the 1990s. The scene I recall is she's grabbed or held captive in a cemetery. When the hero arrives, he sees her lying on the ground tied up and cleave gagged. Drawing a blank on who the hero was and Madsen has so many movies to her credit, it's tough to find.

You may be thinking of FINAL NOTICE (1989), with Melody Anderson and (IIRC) Robert Urich. The DB description is the gold standard for brevity: "Briefly tied and gagged."

There's a reason you didn't know about, see the other

If I start having problems relayed from the hosting

I agree that it does sound like the Final Notice scene although the hero in that film was infact Gil Gerard.

I like Miss Anderson even more than Miss Madsen and remember being disappointed because the scene was so dark (so it probably was a cemetary) and he ungagged her before she came in to the light, so you could only just make out that she was gagged.

Scene ID Roy Rogers Movie
The damsel in this movie walks into the the villians office and after a short talk realizes she is in trouble and tries to back out but is blocked by one of the villians. The leader tells him to tie her up in the next room and is warned not to speak or you will be gagged. The villians devise a plan to use her to tell the Roy and his gang some misinformation. She is sitting in the next room and one of the villians loosens her ropes. She then hears what she thinks is Roy being shot, the villians shot their one loose link. She gets out of her ropes and out the window. What is the movie and the damsel?

New Phoenix Filmworks DVDs
I don't see any of the following New Phoenix Filmworks DVDs (directed by Andy Rodriguez), despite that their coverboxes and descriptions indicate that they're targeted towards a certain niche of persons who frequent this page: Attractive young women as spandex-clad superheroines who are frequently trapped/captured by the villainesses and bound (and often gagged)! And the order page specifies there's no nudity, so these low-budget indie productions should certainly qualify as mainstream media:

Darkfury (1995)
Bikini Babes of Arizona (1997)
RetroGirl Episodes 1-3 (Origin, Taken Captive, Don't Take Off My Mask)
RetroGirl 4: Nightmare
Supermodels (w/ RetroGirl, Batgirl and DreamGirl)
Supermodels II (w/ RetroGirl Gold RetroGirl Silver and DreamGirl)
Black Talon: Broken Mirror (2005)

Only Darkfury and Bikini Babes of Arizona are listed in IMDB, but there are no user reviews. Has anyone viewed these "live action video comic books" (and better yet, care to add them to the Scene Database)?

New Phoenix Filmworks DVDs
I don't there is anyway these qualify as main-stream productions. Just because there is no nudity doesn't make them mainstream. FM Concepts and other commercial bondage companies put out titles with no nudity and they are not in the database or should they be.

This seems to me to be a superheroine fetish company. There is probably no nudity because the producer can't afford to pay for nudity or the girls he gets won't do it. I hope these do not end up in the database.

Updated Captive Latinas Group
Hey Guys,

I finally got around to doing my first update for 2006 for my Yahoo group. I got FORTY caps of Jessica Alba's scene in the movie "Into the Blue". She won a group poll proclaiming her the best damsel of 2005. I also capped a handcuff sans gag scene of sexy Roslyn Sanchez from the movie "Underclassman". She is so damn sexy but this movie wasted a great opportunity to become one of the best scenes out there. Oh well. Anyways, I also included a handful of other pics including a couple of manips. So check it out and enjoy.

Have a great week!!!

Re: New Phoenix Filmworks DVDs
> I hope these do not end up in the database.

Well, we'll leave that up to the Moderator to decide.

New Phoenix films differ from FM Concepts in important ways.

FM Concepts films are sold to adults-only. They tend to be driven 10% by storyline; 90% by bondage. FM films aren't successful/not sucessful because of their storyline.

New Phoenix films, other than Black Talon (NC-17, due to violence content) can be purchased by minors. What bondage there is, is driven by a storyline and there's probably no more than a few minutes worth in each DVD. The site doesn't use keywords such as "bondage", "bound" or "gagged" to describe the DVDs -- the storyline is emphasized (Van's First Law). There aren't "fetishy" ballgags or bitgags in evidence. The link to film reviews are to comic book/sci-fi type reviewers, not to "adult-only" reviewers. The target audience appears to be the people who frequent comic book/sci-fi conventions, etc.

Apparently, in most of the New Phoenix tales, the heroine is captured and placed in peril by the villainess/villain. Yeah, but didn't Batman, Robin, and/or Batgirl wind up bound and in peril in more than 80% of the "Batman" TV series? That's precisely what viewers expect from a cheesy superheroine/superhero production.
The only other cliched way to generate suspense is to place her in some sort of other life-threatening peril (but losing one's flying powers in mid-air or being tossed off a building requires a lot of F/X dollars).

Not sure what you meant by "Superheroine fetish"? Was Wonder Woman a successful TV series because of the Diana Prince character? And is the reason the short-lived "Electra Woman & Dyna-Girl" a cult favorite have anything to do with Deidre Hall & Judy Strangis saving the world while clad in spandex? Even "Charmed" acknowledged this truism in the episode where the three were transformed into spandex-clad comic book superheroines.

Most of the time I try to mark when entries deleted, changed, merged, or caught it when the IMDB Editors have changed things over there.

But there's still entries under review that will likely be changed.

And there nights the game is on and I sidetracked and didn't mark the changes.
