Sue Thomas FB Eye
Hello All,

There was a brief and pretty lame scene last night on Sue Thomas F.B. Eye, the show on PAX. Her hands were tied behind with a scarf, though you never saw them and legs tied with a cord, but same thing. The next scene she was untied and then a few minutes later she was shown briefly blindfolded. Very dissapointing, but wanted those to know nonetheless. What a shame,as that show had so much potential.

Re: Surface NBC 7:45pm ct 1-30-Mon
so Lake will escape with no gags
this season. Hopefully, this show will be renewed, but
not likely.

yeah, what a bummer, oh well. I have a strong feeling that the abc show invasion will produce a scene by the end of its run this season.

ID this Japanese vidclip
There's a Japanese vidclip floating around which I'd like to identify, and I'd appreciate some help. It's a long scene, could be from a movie or a TV show (or even a Japanese soap, I guess). Pock-marked guy tape-gags a woman and has a long one-way conversation with her, holding a knife to her face. It seems like they're in a train compartment, or something like that. Anyone out there know this clip?

Also, Major John recently posted a clip for "Perfect Education 6." That's not up on the database. Do you know who the actress is?

Thanks,

Dannysuling

Well, the Oscar nominations are out...
...and would you believe there's only one movie of interest to us that's up for anything? The latest remake of "King Kong" is in contention for four minor awards (art direction, sound mixing, sound editing and visual effects). No chance for Naomi Watts to become Bound Oscar Winner Number Four, at least as far as our database is concerned (although last year's Best Actress Hilary Swank did appear lashed to a wheelchair in "Million Dollar Baby," I feel I must defer to the judgment of the site owner and the apparent consensus among the rest of you that the scene-and an earlier one where she spars with her ankles tethered together-shouldn't count).

Anyway, we can take some solace in the fact that a trio of database denizens-including future Hall of Famer as Bound Oscar Winner Number Three, Charlize ("Monster") Theron-are up for Best Actress this year. The other two are Keira Knightley ("Pirates of the Carribean") and Reese Witherspoon ("Best Laid Plans" and "The Importance of Being Earnest").

Also, Catherine Keener, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her "Being John Malkovich" role which incorporated a tieup, is up again this year for "Capote." By the way, can anyone who's seen this tell us whether the Clutter murders, the subject of two database entries already, are reenacted again in this film? Nominated along with her are Frances ("Darkman") McDormand and Rachel ("The Mummy") Weisz.

In Defense of SURFACE
Okay, I was as disappointed as the rest that Laura's (Lake Bell's) big DiD-scene was prefunctory, but I *REALLY LIKE* that show! Personally, I consider it head & shoulders above the rest of the "new" supernatural/alien shows ("Threshold", "Kolchak", "Invasion", & "Supernatural"). It's one of only a handful of shows on my "Don't Miss" list, & it makes me look forward to every Monday night.

Ratings? Don't know & don't care. I just know I'll be *very* disappointed if there's no 2nd season. (I have noticed that NBC & SciFi are giving it every chance by airing reruns & even episode marathons. If the show fails, we can't say they didn't give it a chance.)

Oh... & in addition to Lake Bell, have you guys noticed the mini-putz' new girlfriend, "Caitlin"?? (Linsey Godfrey, but she's *not* in the imdb!) Here's hoping there *is* a 2nd season & the badguys get their paws on Laura *&* Caitlin! :-)

"Passions" on the SciFi Channel
The SciFi Channel has started running spots for the soap opera "Passions". They're going to start airing it five days a week, at 9 AM, starting 13 Feb. (I know! I didn't believe it either!) Apparently the powers-that-be at NBC feel there's enough supernatural stuff in the series to justify filling a SciFi time slot.

There are a lot of "Passions" hits in the dBase, but Soaps are problematic, since they don't usually have "episodes", but air dates.

So... if anyone out there is familiar enough with "Passions" to take it on, they'd be doing all of us a real service by volunteering to try to match dbase hits to SciFi air dates. Anyone game?

Glue commercial
Found a blink-and-you-miss-it scene from a commercial for some glue where a secret service lady starts off with wrists bound behind and ankle tied together (no gag) then later escapes out the window. See link...
